Anuska Gilbert

I’ve been on a diet since I was 7 and just over 5 years ago I started Slimming World, started running by doing Couch to 5k, ran my first 5k race and lost 5 stone in a year, but put just over 3 stone back on within 18 months. I re-started 2.5 years ago and at the beginning of 2018 I started going to PureGym, doing regular weights and cardio classes there every week because I knew that they would push me harder than I would push myself.

This summer I wanted to kick it up a gear, having run my first 10k race in May, so I started doing online PT training with Peter because his was the only gym class I’d ever cried in so I knew he’d push me hard! I was still on Slimming World, and wasn’t looking for a nutrition plan, but after thinking about it, and trying it partially, I took a leap of faith and moved over to his macro-based plan alongside the training.

Since August, with my new higher intensity gym, running and nutrition plan the plateau that I didn’t realise I was on has fallen away and my body is changing beyond belief. I literally don’t recognise myself, and have exactly the same response to myself as my relatives and friends do when they see me!

The combination of workouts I’m doing is changing my body by the day and the nutrition is giving my body what it needs to do it. Now I go out and feel amazing rather than ashamed, regularly run races, have gym and running friends, am so much stronger, and have become more confident and progressed as a result at work. I show up for myself now, scared or not, because I know I’m worth it and that I can do it. If you’re wondering whether getting a PT is for you or is worth the money all I can say is DO IT, and more than that, do it with the help of THIS PT.
